I’m getting the oddest feeling that Trevor has pissed off tons of people and only survives by being best buds with the king’s currently zombified inventor son. which begs the question of how the hell he got close to him in the first place.
Still, it leads me to wonder how someone can seem so approachable and yet turns into a complete jackass as soon as he talks to someone from his hometown.
… and now I just got the mental image of Trevor being the one who dies in the magitech accident while the prince lives. seems like a interesting alt-universe.
Nothing of value would be lost if Trevor died in that accident instead of Azgrut. Yeah, Azgrut would probably have some trauma and slightly worse life that would frustrate him but everyone overall probably would turn out better if not a little more spineless and cowardly since the majority would still have their normal lives…
I’ve actually talked about such an Alternate Universe with people.
Solstice would probably be working as a waitress or some kind of attendant with a really plain job and unexciting but happy life.
Phylo’s family would still be alive so Mara would have as normal of a childhood as elven children would have.
Phylo would have been Green General eventually.
Roni would be working and not playing video games all the time.
Torblad wouldn’t have gone crazy and retire. His Translator Buddy would have gone to do other things.
Maggie would have been on the fast track to success.
The Revolutionaries would probably be chipping away at their goal and may be rather close to accomplishing it.
And this is just the people we’ve been introduced to.
It’s weird but I’d argue that the ONLY person (that’s in the comic; extra characters don’t count) who got something good out of the Rebellion is Kevin. I won’t say what his situation would have been since it’s massive spoilers but it definitely would have been worse than what he has now.
Otherwise, everyone would be happier and more well-adjusted. They wouldn’t be a hodge-podge of personality disorders due to early childhood traumas and horrifying experiences or having this weird abnormalities when growing up.
Yukitty: Roni would be working and not playing video games all the time.
…I’m assuming this is because she’s now on the Council and is financially set whatever she does so long as she’s on the Council but dang it it’s like she sounds keen but I don’t see her do anything but seem distant and kinda detached. Like she’s the most disposable of the Council from a narrative point of view-the least amount of importance is tied to her, since-
we don’t really know her as a person.
Unlikes Phylo who is basically the last of his kind of mage and Thal’nasia needs him to live (meaning if he dies Thal’nasia basically is forced to expose itself which probably translates to much raiding of other countries and being a jerk with OP magic powers on the world scene as a result) Her family isn’t necessarily dead, so her magic doesn’t vanish with her.
It feels like the biggest thing about her is that she has the same crest as Cerene’s plague marks…Which given that said marks are from a claw to the face, just says ‘hey my family are beastmasters/werewolves’…
Well, another thing I want to ask is why does Trevor mistrust Solstice. Does he just find her influence on the Council shady? She’s not a conspiritor with Red, and in fact got REALLY burnt hard by the blood red thing, to boot…
It’s weird. Trevor gave off this ‘rebel against the power’ feel when he said things like that? But if he’s so protected by the King, you’d think he’d just have a problem with the Reds instead of seeming to have a beef with like the entire Thal’nasia government.
When it comes to Trevor not trusting Solstice, there’s a few things to keep in mind. The audience knows as much about her as the humans do… so the revelation that she’s seen as suspicious IS meant to be a bit confusing. There’s just a lot we don’t know yet about her and the organization she works for.
But to put one a spotlight on one of th biggest red flags from the things we know… Solstice is the representative of the Scholar society, which is the organization that Bartleby and Maggie are members of. Trevor doesn’t know much about the revolutionaries beyond them having a foothold in THAT group. And if we’re being honest, Solstice has a tragic enough backstory that it wouldn’t be a stretch for her to take up that kind of cause.
As for the happily ever after that would have been if Azgrut hadn’t died… Well the plot of the comic probably wouldn’t have kicked off yet, but the villains wouldn’t be scrambling to keep up with their own mistakes… all the evil plans would be running smoothly under the radar… Lexi would probably be the one working on the leyline pump though since I don’t see much point of using zombie Trevor for that. But the scariest thing is Horace would still be general ready to betray Thal’nasia at the worst possible moment. Imagine the Blood Red Rebellion happening during a Wight invasion.

It’s not that Roni’s loaded and set so she can slack off and be what she is now. My comment specifically said that the majority of the elves would be HAPPIER and more WELL-ADJUSTED. It doesn’t mean that their situations would be more beneficial for them. The Rebellion was just that ONE THING that threw everything out of whack and now they’re the people we see in the comic.
Plus it was just a discussion on what the Alternate Universe might be like. It doesn’t mean it would be accurate. I’ll admit that a lot of these situations are super fanfiction territory.
