OH HEY nice to see my weekly checking of this place is paying off. (And yes of course I check for jokes on the news posts.) Maybe you could like… slowly work the new techniques in though? If there’s a new object or McGuffin, make it look extra fancy with what’s been learned, or replace objects in a scene once you know you can do them better, give a character an excuse to change outfits if you think you can model them better now, etc. Of course, I’m not too familiar with a 3D workflow myself, so idk how applicable that suggestion actually is. XD

It is nice to hear you’re still working on Suppression though! I’ll be here for anything, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to know how it’d all end.

Though uh, I should apologize for dropping the ball on the guest comic. D: Between school, my weird wrist injury, and the fact that I got my first paying art job in the past couple months, I’ve been stretched a bit thin and I really fumbled it. If you’re still interested I can keep picking at it (and I’d at LEAST like to make more fanart, I miss drawing these yahoos), but… well I guess there’s a reason I’m not the one with a weekly webcomic, OTL.

Oh, I’ll certainly be playing around with stuff, but there’s a real question as to how much of it can be pulled back into Suppression itself. There’s just a limit to what is called for. There’s some significant artistic choices that separate Animal Crossing and Doom, if you’ll excuse a meme based example.

But to get lass vague about it, let’s use sculpting specifically for this example. It’s a workflow I know little about, but it can yield insane results. But such results would look very different than everything else around it. It wouldn’t be impossible to make something that blends in, but I’d be working backward to get to that point.

And I’m not saying I’ll never walk that path, but that’s not where I should start.

As for the guest comics, you really don’t have to apologize for doing me only one favor. If you wanna pick at it then by all means. I love your art, and am always excited for more. But you’ve never gotta feel like you are letting me down if you don’t use your art for my benefit.

That’s true! Though don’t feel too bad about changing stuff if it looks better- every webcomic sees it’s art style develop over the course of its run.

*cough* speaking of art though I know you said don’t feel bad about not drawing a lot, but the muse struck so I at least have this now as an addition to the ‘what if they were animals’ series of portraits:

Ok, first off that’s amazing. That’s a pretty perfect way to translate William into a furry (a case where the term couldn’t be more loose). Don’t feel bad about missing the shoulder pads, they were always pretty tacked on to the design. They were there because the model didn’t look quite right underneath them.

As a bit of trivia, William Wight was actually the first name I ever came up with for the Wight Family. I had used the name for a different character. It was a play on the old term Will ‘o Wisp, those ghostly swamp fire things. I think the first William is still floating around my old deviant art page.

When it came time to add an ancient Wight undead weapon to the story, it made perfect sense to me to pull out the first Wight name. The ghostly connotations I baked into that name lead into what his true powers actually ended up being.

just checking in making sure your still alive, or atleast an undead with a palatable eternal existance trapped on this plane of reality. not part of a barrel of phylacteries or any of the other near infinite horrible existances

I’m alright… less alright than I’d like but I’ll make it through. I wasn’t gonna post about it till I was on the other side but… I’ve got Covid.

I’m not gonna say that’s what’s eaten all this time… I’ve been busier than I’d like in general.

I’ll be fine, I’m through the worst of it.

Getting Suppression back running I’ll still say is a project that’s gonna be measured in months. I’ll try and be better about showing I still exist, but it’s still going to be a LONG process.

Oh geez! I’m so sorry to hear that! It’s good to hear you’re through the worst of it though. I’d say stay safe, but it looks like it might be too little too late. Still, I hope you’re able to recover quickly, and by all means no rush!
