I really like these metaphors. Also, making magic a natural force is a different approach. Most magical settings that I’m familiar with (DnD, Shadowrun, most books and video games I’ve played) treat magic as a strictly supernatural (or UNnatural) force. Star Wars had the Force as part of nature, and Golden Sun had a world that was dependent on it. Those are the only two settings I can think of now that treated magic as part of the natural ecosystem.
I love how despite all the foreboding, Morty looks at Nick with a look that can best be described as “OWO ???”
If Morty ever learns to speak, if that’s even possible, it would be very interesting to hear things from his perspective. I wonder if even the Demons understand everything that’s going on. They seem primarily to be creatures of instinct, but their ability to grow and develop makes me wonder if there are some demons that are more intelligent than others.
So as a wild guess here, the black bile would be mana without a wavelength at all. sorta like inert mana. and the demons are made by putting something with its own wavelength in the bile till it diffuses into red mana in a black bile shell. am i even close or just making crazy talk?

Confirming or denying theories? What kinda author would I be if I did that at this stage?
But it’s far from crazy talk.
“All of nature works because of the flow of mana. Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines.”
And bruddah? Nature hurts people. (BOINK!) It’s a FORCE ‘A…Nature. (BONK!) If you were from where Nature was from, you’d be fuckin’ dead! BWOOOO!
